We all remember the way that our rooms were decorated when we were young. Perhaps what we don’t have any way of remembering is just how much pleasure our parents put into decorating our rooms for us with designs they knew we would love.

Sometimes there is no harm in taking a leaf out of your parents’ book. Decorating your own children’s bedrooms with styles that appeal to kids is something that will never go out of fashion. Kids need a room they can enjoy – a room that is playful and light-hearted and that appeals to their young interests.

One of the ways you can achieve this kind of look is with your children’s bedding. By giving your children’s bedrooms certain themes you will not only be designing a space for them to enjoy, but you will also create a fantastic impression that will last in their memories.

You will find a vast range of kids’ bedding themes online – some of which are specifically designed for little girls and some of which are designed for little boys. Whether they are into flowers or football, pirates or princesses, you will find a set of children’s bedding that will put a smile on their faces.

If you are short on space in your home, and your children share a bedroom, it’s likely that you are looking to maximise your existing space as much as possible.

There are many fantastic styles of children’s beds on the market today from which you can choose- including junior, midsleeper, highsleeper and standard single styles.

However, if you want to save space, but still keep the room looking stylish, bunk beds are probably the best type to go for.

Bunk beds are no longer just available in standard plain wooden styles- you can now opt for beds in some fun yet functional types.

Thuka bunk beds are a particularly great choice, as they come in themed styles which are great for bringing a room to life. One of the great things about these children’s beds is that many styles come with a tent option around the bottom bed.

Thuka beds are available in pretty pink styles for girls and blue for the boys.

So, if you’re looking for cost effective children’s beds that can help to save floor space opt for Thunka bunk beds.

Nowadays, kids bedding doesn’t just have to be functional- it’s also a fantastic way of giving your child’s bedroom a whole new look.
As the bed is usually the centrepiece of a bedroom, and generally the largest item of furniture, purchasing some fun items of bedding can really add a new dimension.

The most commonly used items of kids bedding are duvet covers, sheets, blankets and valance sheets- and all of these items come in a great range of different colours, sizes and styles for boys and girls.

Duvet covers in particular can really bring a room to life- and might even help you to get your little ones to sleep faster!

For boys you could opt for aeroplane, pirate or football team themed bedding, and for girls take a look at fantastic styles in flower, fairy and ballerina designs.

Opting for matching duvet covers, sheets and blankets is a great way to theme a room without having to spend too much, and the way that they can transform a room is amazing.

So, if you’re looking for a quick and easy way to brighten up your child’s room- buying some fun and colourful kids bedding is the perfect choice.

If you’re giving your child’s bedroom an overhaul, you may be thinking about investing in some new items of furniture. This is a fantastic idea, as the furniture that you use has a major impact on the overall look of the room.

These days, you’ll be spilt for choice, as children’s furniture comes in a range of different styles and sizes. However, when designing your child’s bedroom, you do need to make sure that you don’t overload the room, and that they have plenty of space to play safely.

There are some basic items of furniture that your child is likely to need in their room.

Bed

This is the most obvious and essential piece of furniture, and children’s beds now come in a wide variety of different shapes and sizes- including bunk beds, junior beds, midsleeper beds and highsleeper beds.

Drawers

A chest of drawers is essential for quickly and efficiently tidying away all of your children’s belongings, and are great for storing a range of items.

Wardrobe

As your child grows, they’re likely to amass quite a collection of clothing, which makes a wardrobe essential.

Take your time browsing through different items of furniture, and choose some that your child will love and that will look simply amazing.

When buying children’s furniture and bedding, function is generally the first thing that many people think about. It goes without saying that any items should fully serve their purpose- and well. However, this doesn’t mean that you can’t also make you child’s bedroom fun.

There are many toys that you can incorporate into your child’s room that can help them to learn whilst they are playing.

Jigsaws make great additions to any bedroom, and are loved by children of all ages. Not only do jigsaws provide hours of fun, they also help to develop coordination and problem solving skills.

In addition to jigsaws, bead frame activity stools are also a great way of developing a range of skills, and can also be played with friends.

There really is no reason why you can’t make your child’s room a place of fun and learning with so many great products around.

Soft furnishings may be forgotten in the design process, but they would make a huge difference to the overall look of any bedroom. Especially when it comes to decorating or changing a child’s bedroom, parents often focus on their children’s beds, wallpaper and toys and can forget about rugs, curtains, cushions and towels.

Curtains are particularly important, as – when drawn – they form a large portion of the wall. It can also depend on whether your child’s curtains are lined, translucent, or blackout as to their weight, feel and look. There are curtains available in all manner of colours and styles, depending on the decor of your children’s room. You could have themed curtains to go with your kids’ bedding and tie the whole room together with their favourite matching toys and cushions.

Cushions are great for children’s bedrooms, as they can safely be thrown around a little, as well as put on the floor as makeshift seats, lined up to act as a barricade or line marker. Different shaped cushions add an extra element, as they can sometimes even be used as a toy – like the Harry Potter Golden Snitch Snuggle cushion.

Soft furnishings are a little like the decoration on a cake. The icing looks great as it is, but there isn’t the wow factor or personalised charm without a ribbon, happy birthday message, sugared fruit or candle.

Camouflage bedding, clothes, decoration and toys have always been popular. The trend doesn’t look to be dying down, and I’m sure your little one thinks he (or she) will make a great Action Man or GI Jane.

They may already have the face paint and the army gear, with torches, compasses and even plastic weapons, but they’ll find their battlefield bedroom more exciting with an array of camouflage themed decor and accessories.

Try the hideaway mirror: A circular mirror with army themed casing, and a ‘door’ over the actual mirror. When the door is closed it is a box of explosives with the words ‘Warning’ and ‘Danger – Explosives’ on it. Your kids will love ‘setting it off’ by opening the flap as the inside is painted to look like an explosion with the word ‘BOOM!’ on it! This mirror will look great on any wall or above any of your children’s furniture.

There’s a wall shelf painted green with camouflage detail, light switch covers – even a wigwam for your soldiers to play in. With cushions and duvet sets, as well as camouflage storage boxes, the only downside is that they’ll be so well camouflaged they’ll be invisible!

Babyface children’s bedding is made of high quality natural fibres, which makes all of their products skin friendly and machine washable. Their bold and bright patterns are really attractive and are available in all sorts of colours and designs.

Babyface specialise in themed products, so if you or your children really like, say, the kinsale duvet set, you can even get matching bunting, and cushions.

Some of the themes come with rugs, as well as laundry bags, book ends and message boards, so your child can have their room covered in butterflies, pirates or cacti.

Here are a few of the themes available:

-	Kinsale
-	Aeroplane
-	Hearts
-	Molly
-	Pirates Ahoy
-	Rosie
-	Star

The aeroplane themed kids’ bedding is white with pictures of helicopters and aeroplanes and a blue and white gingham border. The storage bin and message board are blue, white and red checked, but in slightly different designs.

Most of the themed items are like this; rather than being completely matching – with the same pictures and patterns – they are on the same theme (as the name suggests). This means that all items will complement each other, without the room looking overbearing or repetitive.
